Basecamp in Gabicce Mare
Our base for the week is Gabicce Mare, located in the far north of Marche and on the border with Emilia-Romagna. Here we stay at Hotel Marinella, a family-run hotel situated just a few steps from the beach.
The hotel is well-equipped for cyclists, with secure bike parking, a workbench, and tools. For those wishing to rent a bike, newer Giant TCR models are delivered directly to the hotel, ready for use.
We have the same base throughout Cyan Road, but set out on a new stage each day before returning to Gabicce Mare. Would very much like to include something about it being nice for any partner who is not cycling to join us
Cyan Road on Italian roads
The landscape between Marche and Emilia-Romagna offers us varied stages. From the coast, the roads wind inland through hills, vineyards, and small villages, featuring everything from fast sections to longer climbs and plenty of elevation gain.
Along the way, we cycle through an area rich in Italian cycling history and culture. Saludecio, San Leo, Mondaino, and Urbino are among the medieval towns in the area, along with the Republic of San Marino.
Cyan Road is more than a bike ride. We cycle together as Team Cyan to create visibility and increase awareness about children and young people's mental health.
Also time for Italy
Once the day's stage is completed, Gabicce Mare and the Adriatic Sea await. Hotel Marinella is located right by the beach, and the afternoons and evenings offer opportunities to experience what the area has to offer.
Having the same base throughout the week provides a great framework for the trip – while each day brings a new stage and new experiences on the bike.
Plenty to experience – also without a bike
At the same time, Gabicce Mare is a perfect base for a partner or companion who does not wish to cycle. Here, the fantastic beach is right outside the door, and the area offers cozy coastal towns, shopping, culture, food & wine – and plenty of opportunities for their own experiences while the cyclists are out on the road.
After the bike ride, the beach is just a short distance away, perfect for a swim in the Adriatic Sea and a relaxing afternoon before we gather around the table again.
A week with many kilometers and elevation meters in the legs – and plenty of time for everything else that belongs to a real trip to Italy.
