Tour de France 2026 – Legendary cycling days in the French Alps

NB! This trip is fully booked. Please contact us to be placed on the waiting list.

From Alpe d’Huez to Galibier – Tour de France trip full of energy, pulse, and atmosphere

It is hard not to be inspired by the Uno-X team, who will once again test their strength against the world elite in the Tour de France. In 2026 they are back – and we are following in their wheel tracks! Together with Expa Travel, you will get to feel the genuine Tour de France atmosphere in the French Alps, right in the heart of the landscape that has shaped some of the sport's greatest moments.

Legendary climbs

Our route is packed with legendary climbs: Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier, and Col de l’Iseran – Europe's highest paved mountain pass.
You will also get to experience the race itself up close, as the peloton fights its way up the iconic Alpe d’Huez, surrounded by cheering, flags, chaos, and a public festival along the road.
The following day, we will see the riders again on their way up Col de la Croix de Fer via Col du Glandon. In short – this will be the Tour de France at its best!

The trip is suitable for those who like to feel the lactic acid, but also want to enjoy the French Alps with good food, social companionship, and spectacular views from the bike saddle. You should have some experience with hills and longer stages, but with an e-road bike as an alternative, anyone with a bit of a training foundation can join in the fun.

At the same time, this trip is just as much about enjoying as performing – about rolling through charming alpine villages, enjoying great meals, and soaking up the atmosphere of the mountains that have made the Tour de France legendary. We anticipate a week filled with the joy of cycling, Tour de France atmosphere, mastery, and memories for life.

Quick facts about the trip

We fly directly from Oslo to Geneva with Norwegian (included). From there, the adventure on two wheels starts in the heart of the French Alps.

Every day we cycle some of the most iconic mountain stages from Tour de France history. We change hotels daily, and luggage is transported between accommodations – so you can focus on the cycling. What you need along the stages, you carry in your own small backpack. Water is refilled in local fountains or purchased along the way, and as always on Expa trips, there are mandatory coffee stops!

All meals from dinner on the first evening to breakfast on the day of departure are included. Lunches vary between picnics along the way and simple restaurant visits – usually a main course.
Dinners are mostly enjoyed in the hotels' restaurants. Drinks are extra.

The bikes are delivered by our partner to the hotel on the first day. We use modern Giant TCR road bikes (at most one year old). You bring your own pedals, helmet, and water bottle.

We cycle as one group, with a relaxed pace and a focus on the experience. The stages can be both long and demanding, with many meters of elevation – but we will enjoy the ride, the atmosphere, and the scenery in the French Alps.

On July 24th and 25th, we get up close to the Tour de France circus! We will see the riders pass two days in a row – on some of the most legendary climbs in the entire race.

Who the trip is for

This is the trip for those who want to experience both achievement and the Tour de France atmosphere up close. The stages go over some of the highest mountain passes in Europe, and you will feel both the length and the altitude along the way.

If you have trained with long rides and hills, we recommend a standard road bike.
If you are unsure of your fitness level, an e-road bike or e-gravel bike is a great option – previous participants on e-bikes have been very satisfied.

The longest stages take most of the day – in return, you get the rawest views and the feeling of the real Tour de France!

Day 2Faverges - Bourg-Saint-Maurice

Cormet de Roselend, 1968 moh | Tour de France 2026 med Expa Travel

The adventure begins!
We are going over the incredibly beautiful mountain pass Cormet de Roselend, with the highest point at 1968 m above sea level. The Tour de France has crossed this pass as many as 19 times. Even though we will cross even higher mountain passes later, we expect that the 20 km climb will be a fantastic challenge, where it is all about finding a good rhythm and enjoying the scenery all the way up.

After a break at the top, a fantastic descent awaits to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Hostellerie du Petit Saint Bernard – a classic alpine hotel located at 840 m above sea level.
Should anyone contrary to expectations have other wishes than to gather strength for tomorrow, there is an option of going for an extra hill climb in the afternoon.

Joint dinner at the hotel's restaurant.

Day 3Bourg-Saint-Maurice - Val Cenis

Col de L’Iseran - Tour de France 2026 | Expa Travel

If anything can be described as epic, it must be conquering the Col de L’Iseran itself by bike!
This is Europe's highest paved mountain pass, even a few meters higher than the Stelvio pass. We are going up to a whopping 2764 meters above sea level. This will be wild, beautiful, exhausting, tons of fun, and guaranteed to be something we will remember for the rest of our lives.

Once safely down in Val Cenis, we arrive at L’Outa Hotel, where we will enjoy a well-deserved dinner and relax for the evening.

Day 4Val Cenis - Le deux Alpes

Col du Galibier - spektakulær utsikt | Tour de France med Expa Travel

We start with some easier kilometers out of Val Cenis, but today another highlight that many have on their bucket list awaits – the majestic Col du Galibier.
This year, like many previous years, this is the highest point of the Tour de France route. Here, mythical duels between the giants of cycling have been fought countless times.

When we reach all the way up to 2642 m, a spectacular view awaits in all directions.
And now the Tour de France circus is drawing closer as we make our way to Le deux Alpes. Guaranteed to be a bit tired, but hopefully also proud and satisfied with what we have achieved and experienced together so far.

Vi er supportere i Tour de France-sirkuset | TdF 2026 med Expa Travel

The Tour de France circus comes to Alpe d’Huez – perhaps cycling's most legendary climb with its 21 hairpin turns. This will be cycling madness at its best. And our home favorites Uno-X are part of the circus.
We will cheer for everyone – the biggest stars fighting for victory, those wearing the famous jerseys, the domestiques, and the riders coming last, fighting against the time limit.

After crossing the finish line, we cycle to Grenoble where we spend the night at the Maison Barbillion hotel in the city center.

Day 6Grenoble - Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

Vi er supportere i Tour de France-sirkuset | TdF 2026 med Expa Travel

This is our final day (!) where we cycle parts of the route of what will be the queen stage for the Tour de France riders.
We start early, meaning before the TdF peloton, up to the Col de la Croix de fer at 2064 m, via the Col du Glandon.
This mountain is known for incredibly beautiful views, and we will watch the Tour de France peloton pass. After the summit, we get the descent to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
Here, it will be possible to take a shower at the hotel right away for those who wish. However, we also have a fantastic bonus option: Just a few kilometers away lies the Lacets de Montvernier. Some call it the world's most beautiful hairpin turns. Over 3.4 km and 277 meters of elevation, it winds its way up through the terrain. Should anyone want a final push further up from there, the road continues to another famous Tour de France climb: Col de la Madeleine. Realistically, it might be too ambitious even for the toughest to make it all the way up there – but the opportunity is there…

Joint farewell dinner at the hotel's restaurant.
