10 years of touring together – this time the trip goes to Sardinia!
We start in Cagliari and set course southwards on Vespas. Small roads, the sea close by, charming villages and of course time for both coffee and a good lunch along the way. First goal is Chia, in the far south of Sardinia, with white beaches and the almost unreal turquoise-blue sea. From there we follow the spectacular coastal road SP71 from Chia towards Teulada. Here the road winds along the Mediterranean – a drive with the sea close by and always something new around the next bend.
Sardinia is much more than just sea and beaches. From Teulada, we therefore turn inland and drive through the mountains and wine regions of Sulcis. Here there will be fewer tourists, small villages and a completely different Sardinia – and of course we'll eat a proper Sardinian lunch before continuing out towards the island of Sant’Antioco. A cool place where we will also stay the night.
The next day we drive on towards Nebida, Masua and Porto Flavia, where the mountains almost plunge straight into the sea. Old mining areas, dramatic cliffs and Pan di Zucchero rising out of the Mediterranean.
We think this could be one of those days where we stop a bit more often than planned – simply because there is so much to see.
The last overnight stay will be in the old town of Iglesias. Since the flight leaves late the next day, we are of course going to make the most of that too. Instead of the quickest way back to Cagliari, we take the small roads over the mountains and the green inland. A final coffee stop, a good lunch – and then we roll into Cagliari and return the Vespas before flying home.
New roads, new experiences and a completely new area. I think Sardinia is going to be really great!
We ride together as a group, and luggage is transported from hotel to hotel, so on the Vespa we only need what we will use during the day.
