Cycling and Hiking in the Dolomites

Note! This is a corporate trip, strictly for specially invited participants.

By bike and on foot around the Brenta Dolomites – 5 days of magnificent nature experiences!

Imagine starting the day by Lake Garda, cycling through small Italian villages and lush valleys, and a few hours later standing surrounded by the mighty peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. It is precisely these contrasts that make this trip so special!

Over the course of five days, we combine fantastic cycling stages with a wonderful hike in one of Northern Italy's most beautiful mountain areas. Winding mountain roads, turquoise lakes, pleasant food breaks, and views that make it hard to put the camera away await you here.

We start in Torbole by Lake Garda and cycle northwards, past beautiful Lago di Tenno and onwards through the valleys towards Madonna di Campiglio. Along the way, we will tackle some proper climbs, but the reward is even greater as the mountains open up around us.

We stay in Madonna di Campiglio for two nights. Here, we give the bikes a day of rest and take the mountain lift up to around 2,000 meters altitude. A hike in the Cinque Laghi area awaits, featuring small mountain lakes, great trails, and panoramic views of the Brenta massif's dramatic limestone peaks. Along the way, we'll find a nice spot for a picnic lunch, with the mountains as our closest neighbors.

After that, we are back on the bikes and continue through lush valleys and orchard areas before taking on the climb up towards Andalo. From here, the route heads down to idyllic Molveno, where the beautiful lake is surrounded by towering mountains.

On the final day, we cycle south through the gorge landscape near Sarche, past vineyards and small villages, before we once again see Lake Garda ahead of us. And perhaps we'll have time for one last Italian gelato before heading home?

Along the way, there will naturally be time for pleasant lunches, delicious Italian dinners, and a well-deserved after-bike. Because it is often around the table, after a day full of experiences, that the best trip stories truly come to life.

You choose whether you want to ride a road bike or an e-bike, allowing you to experience the stages in the way that suits you best.

Four nights, five days, and a round trip around the Brenta Dolomites! A delightful combination of cycling, mountain hiking, Italian culinary culture, and great camaraderie – with new experiences around every single bend.

Cycling and Mountain Hiking in the Beautiful Brenta Dolomites

This tour offers a wonderful combination of activity, nature experiences, and everyday Italian life. We cycle on scenic roads through small villages, lush valleys, and up toward the mountain areas around Madonna di Campiglio and Andalo.

Along the way, we encounter both long descents and climbs that get your heart pumping. You can choose between a road bike and an e-bike, but either way, you should be used to cycling and enjoy active days.

A Day on Foot Among the Mountain Peaks

In Madonna di Campiglio, we swap our bikes for hiking boots. The mountain lift takes us up to the Cinque Laghi area, where we hike among small mountain lakes with views of the distinctive limestone peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.

We adapt the route according to the weather and conditions, but we plan for a full day's hike in the mountains. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the views, take photos, and find a nice spot for a picnic lunch.

As Much Camaraderie as Activity

It’s not just the kilometers we cycle or the elevation meters we leave behind that make this trip special.

It's also the coffee breaks in small Italian villages, the delicious lunch at a local trattoria, the conversations around the dinner table, and the feeling of arriving after an eventful day.

We stay in hotels along the way, and luggage is transported between accommodations. This allows us to focus on the cycling, the mountain hike, and the experiences we share.

This is an active trip for those who love being outdoors, exploring new places, and sharing great travel memories with others.

Day 2 – From Lake Garda to Madonna di Campiglio

Madonna di Campiglio i Brenta-Dolomittene | Expa Travel

We wake up in Torbole, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and get ready for the trip's first real cycling stage. Today, we leave Lake Garda's mild climate behind and head up into the mighty Brenta Dolomites! Luggage is transported directly to the hotel in Madonna di Campiglio, so all we need to focus on is the cycling and the experiences along the way.

We set our course north, and the first challenge of the day is the climb towards Passo Ballino (750 m a.s.l.). Along the way, we pass the beautiful Lago di Tenno, famous for its almost unreal turquoise water. It's well worth looking up from the road here!

After the pass, a fantastic descent awaits with views of the Dolomites, before we continue toward historic Stenico. The small village is renowned for its impressive medieval castle, which towers over the valley.

We continue cycling along the hillsides and into Val Rendena. The mountains grow steadily higher around us, and views of the Brenta massif accompany us for much of the way.

In Pinzolo, we take a well-deserved lunch break (included) before the day's final challenge: the approximately 15-kilometer climb up to Madonna di Campiglio, 1,550 meters above sea level. You will really feel it in your legs here! This is a finish straight out of the Giro d’Italia.

Upon arrival, we check in at the hotel, while the bikes get a well-earned rest after the day's efforts. We gather for a cozy after bike, share the day's experiences, and soak in the atmosphere of one of the Dolomites' most famous mountain resorts.

In the evening, a delicious dinner awaits at the hotel restaurant (included). And after a day that took us from Lake Garda all the way up into the mountains, it will surely taste extra good!

Day 3Hiking in the Brenta Dolomites

Cinque Laghi i Brenta-Dolomittene | Expa Travel

Today we give the bikes a rest and lace up our hiking boots! After a good breakfast, we go over today's route before strolling over to the cable car, which whisks us up to an altitude of around 2,000 meters.

Up here lies Cinque Laghi, a stunning mountain area featuring small lakes, great trails, and panoramic views of the mighty Brenta Dolomites. Now we are truly in the heart of the mountains!

We set out on a magnificent hike through the alpine landscape, where the plan is to pass five mountain lakes along the way. The scenery shifts between mirror-like waters, green mountainsides, and dramatic peaks. There will be plenty of natural photo stops to take in the views.

Along the way, we find a scenic spot for a packed picnic lunch (included). And with the mountains as our backdrop, the food tastes even better!

We continue towards Pradalago, where we aim for a well-deserved after hike drink before taking the lift back down to Madonna di Campiglio. That way, we avoid a long descent on foot at the end of the day.

Both the starting and finishing cable cars are within walking distance of the hotel, making logistics very straightforward.

Today's route can be adapted to weather conditions and the group's fitness on the day. There are several alternatives in the area, but we always plan for a rewarding full day in the high mountains, with plenty of time for hiking, breaks, and soaking in nature.

A day of crisp mountain air, beautiful lakes, and views we will remember for a long time!

Back at the hotel, there will be time to relax before we gather for a pleasant group dinner in the hotel restaurant (included).

Day 4Cycling stage from Madonna di Campiglio to Andalo / Molveno

Molveno, beliggende mellom Brenta-Dolomittene og Gardasjøen i Italia | Expa Travel

Today we are back on the bikes! After a hearty breakfast, we head down from Madonna di Campiglio, ready for a new day of great bike paths, small Italian villages, and majestic mountains all around us.

And what a way to start the day! The first 25 kilometers are mostly downhill, on the opposite side of the mountain from where we climbed two days ago. All you have to do is enjoy the descent and the scenery opening up before you.

Once down in the valley, we continue along cycling paths through lush valleys with fruit trees and small villages. We ride through areas famous for their apple orchards, which are especially lovely to cycle through in the autumn when the trees are laden with fruit.

En route, we stop for lunch at a local trattoria (included). Authentic Italian food and a delightful break around the table await. This is one of the lunches we look forward to the most!

After lunch, it's time to put our legs to work again. The day's major climb begins here: about 12 kilometers up towards the mountain village and ski resort of Andalo. Fortunately, we have our e-bikes with us, so everyone can find their own rhythm on the ascent.

Gradually, panoramic views of the Brenta Dolomites open up. We have now looped around the massif and can look back at the impressive 3,000-meter peaks that formed the backdrop for yesterday's hike. It's quite something to view the mountains from a completely new angle!

From Andalo, a delightful downhill ride towards Molveno awaits. Far below lies the stunning lake with its clear, turquoise-blue water, surrounded by forested slopes and dramatic mountain peaks.

We ride down to Molveno and check into our hotel, located right near the lake. There will be time to enjoy the surroundings, unwind, and perhaps take a stroll along the lakeshore before dinner.

In the evening, we gather for a pleasant dinner (included) at the hotel restaurant. Another eventful day draws to a close, and we have experienced yet another side of the Brenta Dolomites!

Day 5From Molveno to Torbole – a final cycling stage before departure

And so we reach the final day of our trip! We pack our bags and check out of the hotel before enjoying a good breakfast. Then, we hop on our e-bikes for the final stage, riding from Molveno back to Torbole on Lake Garda.

And what a fantastic finale lies ahead! Today's route is mostly downhill or on flat cycle paths, offering plenty of opportunity to enjoy both the views and the final kilometers on two wheels.

We begin by tracing the shores of beautiful Lake Molveno, with its clear, turquoise waters and the mighty Brenta Dolomites in the background. Then we continue down toward the valley, passing through dramatic gorge scenery leading us to the small town of Sarche.

From here, we head south toward Lake Garda. The landscape gradually transitions from alpine peaks to lush valleys, vineyards, and small Italian villages. Along the way, we pass several wineries, and the last 25 kilometers or so follow scenic bike paths back toward Torbole.

After a few action-packed days in the Dolomites, it feels especially rewarding to return to where the adventure began. We return our bikes, and two hotel rooms have been arranged for the group to shower and change before the journey home.

Afterward, we gather for a lovely lunch (included). There will be time to unwind, reminisce over the trip's highlights, and perhaps start planning your next cycling getaway!

After lunch, we board the bus heading to Venice Airport, ready for the trip home. Dinner is at your own expense today.

Five days of cycling, mountain hiking, Italian food, and wonderful company come to an end. We return home with many fond memories – and perhaps slightly tired, but happy legs!
