Giro d’Italia 2026 – experience the race from the saddle

From coast to coast – Italy across, quite simply!

From May 12–16, we cycle across Italy!
Starting on the west coast in Lazio, continuing through Molise and Abruzzo, and all the way down to the Adriatic Sea.
From coast to coast, in the footsteps of the 7th Giro d’Italia stage. We cycle the entire stage. But, instead of cycling it in one day, we divide the route over several cycling days.

We will get close to the professional cyclists in perhaps the most spectacular climb in the entire race – Blockhaus. You will feel the Giro pulse both in the villages we cycle through, and in the more demanding climbs…
There will be cycling every day, including the arrival and departure days. In other words, a full 5 exciting cycling days in a landscape that, for many, is unknown but beautiful!

The finale of stage 7 is brutal, beautiful, and absolutely legendary: finishing at the top of Blockhaus. Here, all the riders in the race get a good test of where they stand. There will be hairpin turns, pink chaos, cheers from the crowd along the road – real goosebumps.
The trip is about more than cycling – there will be atmosphere, stories, and camaraderie.

We look forward to another unforgettable Expa experience.

Who is this trip for?

This is the trip for those who want to experience an exciting and perhaps completely new area, feel both a sense of achievement and, not least, the Giro d'Italia atmosphere up close. We make our way from the east to the west coast in the course of five days with daily stages of approx. 45-90 km.

The trip is suitable for those who enjoy cycling, but also want to enjoy local Italian cuisine, social companionship, and exciting cycling experiences in what might be an unfamiliar and beautiful area.

You must enjoy the sense of adventure and being on a trip together with others. We spend the whole day on the bike, so you should be somewhat accustomed to cycling and prepare yourself with a few long rides before departure. The tempo and speed will be leisurely.

You can choose between a road racing bike or an electric road racing bike. In other words, you can choose for yourself how demanding the trip should be. We cycle without a support vehicle, but naturally, our luggage is transported between the hotels.

Quick facts about the trip

We fly with Norwegian directly from Oslo to Rome (flight tickets are not included). From there, the adventure on two wheels begins – from the east coast in the Lazio region. The route continues over the Apennines in Abruzzo, and then onwards down towards the Adriatic Sea.

We will follow the race closely on the way up Blockhaus – one of the most iconic mountains in the Giro d'Italia. In the most demanding section of Blockhaus, we will find a suitable spot to watch the race pass by. This is one of the most legendary climbing stages in the long history of the Giro d'Italia.

Changing hotels daily
We follow the route for stage 15. There will be daily hotel changes, and luggage will be transported between accommodations – so you can focus on the cycling.
Whatever you need along the way during the daily stages, you carry in your own small backpack. Water is refilled at local fountains or purchased along the way, and as always on Expa trips, coffee stops are mandatory!

All meals from dinner on the first evening to lunch on the day of departure are included. Lunches vary between picnics along the route or restaurant visits.

Dinners are mostly enjoyed in the hotels' restaurants. Drinks are extra.

Our partner delivers the bikes to the hotel on the first day. Likely of the brand Bianchi (maximum one year old). You bring your own pedals, helmet, and water bottle.

We cycle as one group, with a leisurely pace and a focus on the experience. The stages are varied and take place on roads with limited traffic. However, we must still expect some traffic occasionally.
