Camel Extreme on an active trip in Val Gardena, the Dolomites 2026

Spectacular hikes and activities in Val Gardena

Camel Extreme on an Adventure in the Dolomites

Around Sassolungo & into Langental/ Vallunga

40 years of friendship – that deserves respect. With trips practically every year since 1986. And it doesn't stop there, because this year the trip goes to the Dolomites and Venice, and this time it will be extra pleasant as the 'better halves' are also invited along. This will be a trip with both activity, good food, and great experiences together.

Seiser Alm and the Dolomites attract visitors from all over the world. It is no wonder, because here you will find unique and beautiful mountains, spectacular views, and cozy mountain huts located in places 'no one would believe anyone could live'.
On this trip, we combine spectacular hiking, climbing, and cycling in the unique Dolomites with delicious local food & drinks

For our accommodation, we have chosen the cozy, family-run Hotel Piccolo. A charming place with a good standard, personal service, and – not least – excellent food.

Our tour leader, Anne Grethe T. Vestrheim, who incidentally LOVES the Dolomites, has planned exciting activities and hikes, allowing you to choose between light / moderate, or long / advanced hikes on the different days. The day trips take place at altitude, between approx. 1500 – 3000 meters above sea level. It goes without saying that both the views and the experiences will be truly special!

Quick facts about the trip

The hikes last 4-6 hours and take place in hilly terrain at an altitude between 1500 – 3000 m.a.s.l. for both groups. Expect to spend most of the day out on the trail. You will likely feel the altitude affect your breathing slightly, regardless of your fitness level. If you choose the easy/moderate hike, it starts by taking the mountain lift up the first approx. 1000 meters of elevation. We do the same in the afternoons when we are heading back down. If you choose the long/advanced route, you only take the lift back down.

There may be some free time in the afternoons/evenings, which can be spent on activities like sightseeing in town. Or simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the hotel in the town of Selva di Val Gardena / Wolkenstein

We eat dinners in the hotel's restaurant, and lunches at cozy mountain huts / rifugios high up in the mountains – with fantastic views.

Additional excursion – Via Ferrata climbing

On one of the days, you can choose to join an exciting and unforgettable Via Ferrata. We start at the Sella Pass, where Via Ferrata Furcela de Saslonch begins. Simply a magical experience. This excursion costs from 210 Euro / person. You sign up for the excursion prior to departure (Expa Travel will contact you closer to departure regarding this) and pay directly to the guiding company in Val Gardena.

Additional excursion – cycling

You can also choose mountain biking, for example at Seiser Alm or Sassolungo. There is an extra cost for this as well, which is paid to the bike rental company on site. Between 30 - 70 Euro / person, depending on the type of bike (e-bikes can also be chosen). You sign up for the excursion prior to departure (Expa Travel will contact you closer to departure regarding this) and pay directly to the company in Val Gardena.

Local bus – included

The local bus is the best option to reach the various starting points for the hikes / activities.
All participants will receive a 'Gardenacard' upon arrival at the hotel, and by presenting this you can ride the bus for free throughout your stay. The distances to the activities we have planned for this trip are not long.

Day 2Langental - Puez Refuge - Jimmy Refuge - Dantercepies or Col Raiser - Seceda - Ortisei

Seceda - mest fotograferte utsikt | Expa Travel

Slightly more demanding hike
A long, steep, raw, and magical hike awaits you today!
The hike starts directly from the hotel, heading into a 6 km long valley (hence the name Langental), before the ascent to the Puez Refuge begins. This refuge is located at 2,475 meters above sea level. Upon arrival at the Puez Refuge, approx. 10 km and 900 meters of elevation gain of today's hike are completed. We recommend a lunch stop and some energy replenishment (not included) at this refuge before continuing on towards Forcella di Ciampei (2,672 m) and Forcella Crespeina (2,528 m).
Exciting 'wild-west landscape' between sharp limestone formations from there and down to the Jimmy Refuge (2,222 m). Beautiful views towards the well-known Sella Ronda massif.

If you have time, we recommend a well-deserved 'after-walk' at the Jimmy Refuge before taking the Dantercepies lift down to Selva.
A perfect end to today's long hike. The last lift down leaves at 17:30. You can walk to the hotel from the final station.

Easy / moderate hike
You walk from the hotel (alternatively, the hotel arranges transport up to the mountain lift that takes you to Col Raiser, 2,107 m). There are several trails to choose from here, but feel free to start with the trail towards the Regensburger Refuge (2,307 m) and then continue on a partially narrow gravel road into the valley towards the Geisler Group. Follow the Geisler Group along the lower side, and enjoy the scenery with views of Sassolungo and Sella Ronda. Opportunity for a coffee or something else at a small alpine pasture on the way to Seceda (not included), or stop at one of the many other mountain refuges in the green area you are hiking through. Lunch can be purchased and enjoyed here (not included) – perhaps a Kaiserschmarren at one of our favorite refuges on this stretch, Baita Troier-hütte, where llamas are fenced in just outside. Then you continue on to Seceda.

At the Seceda lift (2,456 m), those who wish can walk further up, approx. 80 meters of elevation gain, to the Seceda peak (2,518 m) and just enjoy the view!!! This is probably the most photographed view in the area.

Lift down to Ortisei (not included) – and perhaps an after-walk here or some shopping?

Delicious shared dinner in the hotel's restaurant in the evening (included).

Day 3Different activities around Sassolungo - then onward to Venice

Via Ferrata i Dolomittene - må testes! | Expa Travel

Check-out, luggage is placed in the hotel's luggage room.

Today, there are various activities for the group to choose from:

Via Ferrata in the Sassolungo group
Via ferrata can be booked for an additional cost for those who wish. In that case, we book a local guide who will take you on a wild, beautiful, and indescribable adventure! The via ferrata is called Furcela de Saslonch. Local guides lead you safely through the Via Ferrata, round-trip transportation, and equipment rental are included in the price. This excursion costs from 210 euros / person. The excursion must be booked through us, but is paid directly to our local partner in Val Gardena.

Easy / moderate hiking in the Sassolungo area.
An alternative is to take the well-known 'telephone booth lifts' up to an altitude of 2,700 meters (lift tickets not included), and from there be able to see the group that has chosen to climb the Via Ferrata. You can, for example, stroll around up here in the wild landscape, or choose a longer and partly demanding alternative, which is to walk further down 400 meters of elevation gain among wild mountain peaks towards the rustic and wonderfully located Langkofel Refuge. Enjoy the views over Seiser Alm. Walk further down and then towards Monte Seura and take the lift down to the valley again or take the Zipline from there (not included)! Raw experience!

You can also take the lift from Selva up towards Sassolungo and hike in this area (lift tickets not included). Easy / moderate or a bit tougher.

Bike tour
There are many great opportunities for bike tours in this valley!
Or you can bring the bike on the mountain lift and cycle there.
There is also the option to cycle along the old railway line between the three cozy towns in Val Gardena (Ortisei – Santa Christina – Selva). Bicycle rental costs from 30-80 euros / person, depending on which type of bike you choose.

Lunch is on your own (not included).

Whatever you choose to do today, make sure to be back at the hotel well before 15:00, because that is when the transfer bus leaves for Venice!
