Italy
Cycle from vineyard to vineyard, enjoy the local food, and experience the best wines Abruzzo has to offer. Along the way, you will visit charming medieval towns like Miglianico and Orsogna, known for their castles and fortresses with exciting histories. The landscape is hilly but easy to cycle, and traffic is limited. The trip ends with two relaxing days along the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic Sea.
You can cycle on your own or with a local, English-speaking guide (for an additional fee).
The trip lasts for 6 days / 5 nights, with the possibility of extension.
Suitable for a minimum of 4 people – if you are fewer, contact us for a custom offer.
Daily stages of 30–40 km make this trip ideal for anyone who loves good food, wine, and pleasant cycling.
If you want a bigger challenge, you can add extra loops with longer distances or more hilly routes.
Your luggage is transported from hotel to hotel, allowing you to cycle without extra weight on your bike.
The minimum number of participants is 8 people.
Abruzzo is a region that remains relatively undiscovered by many, an area that can truly offer great experiences. Here, you can explore medieval towns with fascinating history and a diverse landscape that stretches from majestic mountains to beautiful beaches, tied together by rolling hills and vineyards.
Abruzzo is located in the heart of Italy, dominated by the Apennine mountain range, with peaks reaching over 3,000 meters above sea level. The region is known for its large national parks, rich flora and fauna, and cycling routes that combine nature and history in a unique way. From the mountain peaks to the coast, you will find a variety of cycling paths on low-traffic roads – perfect for exploring the area at your own pace.
The trip is designed for you to cycle on your own, but it is also possible to hire a local, English-speaking guide (for an additional fee). Upon arrival, you will meet our local partner, who will provide a detailed walkthrough of the stages (in English). You will receive maps and GPS files that can be loaded onto a smartphone via an app, or onto your personal Garmin device (remember to bring it from home, if applicable).

Arrival at the hotel in Francavilla al Mare.
Check-in and adjustment of bikes. Briefing and review of the program with a local, English-speaking guide.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant.

After breakfast, pack your luggage. This is to be left at reception before today’s stage starts.
This is probably the most demanding stage of the trip. Today you will cycle towards the mighty Majella mountains – beautiful!
Along the way, you will pass through the town of Crecchio, among other places, which in the 1940s housed the royal family of Savoy in its famous castle.
Once you arrive in the town of Semivicoli, you will check in to a 'relais' located in the middle of the vineyards.
During dinner, there will be a wine tasting of the "house" wines (dinner and wine tasting included in the price).

Today you cycle the route back down to the coast, known as Costa dei Trabocchi. A Trabocco is a very special fishing platform converted into a restaurant.
On the way down to the coast, you will pass the wine producer Frentana, among others. There will be a stop and tasting here before you continue through the town of Lanciano, and onwards to the medieval castle Rocca San Giovanni. From here you get a fantastic view of the sea.
Check-in at a hotel located within walking distance of the beach. Time for sun & swimming before dinner.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant (included in the price).

On this day, you follow the beautiful cycle path that runs south along the coast. This is a former railway line that has recently been converted into a cycle path.
You will pass through the towns of Torino di Sangro, Casalbordino, the Punta Aderci nature reserve, and Vasto Marino. Feel free to cycle up to the old town in Vasto. Fantastic views over the coast, where you can see all the special Trabocchi that characterize the coast here.
On the way back (same path), you stop for a wine tasting at one of the wineries: Terre D’Erce, Fontefico, Jasci e Marchesani, or Jasci Donatello.
Dinner tonight is at a Trabocco below the hotel (included in the price).

After breakfast, pack your luggage and leave it at reception before setting off heading north.
Today's trip ends in Francavilla. The largest town on the way is Ortona. A stop at the old Aragonese castle is a must.
After Ortona, you will stop at the final wine producer for this time. Here you will cycle slightly inland, on smaller roads that lead you to the vineyards.
Dinner in the hotel restaurant (included in the price).

Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and departure to the airport.
Thank you so much for the trip!
