Quick facts about the trip
The daily stages are approx. 47 – 51 km and go slightly off the beaten track. Both on asphalt and gravel roads, as well as on roads with limited traffic. The landscape is hilly, without any major uphill or downhill slopes.
Your luggage is transported from hotel to hotel, so you do not need to carry luggage on your bike.
On your own
There is no guide on this trip. You navigate yourself using an app that constantly shows where you are and where you are going. You will receive a thorough briefing from a local, English-speaking partner upon arrival at the hotel / on the morning of the first cycling day.
The bikes will be delivered to the hotel in Lucca and picked up from the last hotel in Siena.
When registering, you choose which type of bike you wish to rent (additional cost). You can choose between good hybrid bikes with straight handlebars and a luggage rack, or e-hybrid bikes. All bikes are of a high standard and a recent model.
Who is this trip suitable for?
This is "holiday cycling" at its very best. An adventure tour in a fantastically beautiful landscape, and through cozy towns. On this trip, the experiences along the way will be just as important as the cycling itself.
As mentioned, the daily stages are between 47 – 51 km per day, so you don't need extensive cycling preparation. Anyone in normal physical shape, and with good health, can enjoy this trip.
If you are unsure of your fitness level, an e-bike is a very good alternative. Nevertheless, it is always a good idea to prepare a little ahead of such trips, preferably with some slightly longer bike rides. The experience is usually a bit better if the body is used to several consecutive hours in the saddle.
Several of our clients often choose to extend their visit with a few extra days. Please contact us if this is something you would like.
