Cycling tour in the Moselle Valley - from Luxembourg to Koblenz on your own

Day 1Arrival Day Luxembourg

Welcome to Luxembourg! Before the cycling trip starts in earnest, you have the opportunity to get to know this exciting city, with its historic buildings, narrow streets, and great viewpoints.

Feel free to take a walk through the UNESCO-listed old town, visit the historic casemates, or see the Grand Ducal Palace. From Chemin de la Corniche, often referred to as "Europe's most beautiful balcony", you get a great view of the city.

We recommend direct flights from Oslo to Luxembourg (not included in the price). If you have booked a rental bike, it will be ready at the hotel along with information about the tour and maps of the upcoming daily stages.

Day 2Luxembourg - Trier

First day on the bike! The trip starts on small country roads through Luxembourg's green landscape, past fields, vineyards, and pleasant villages.

When you get down to the Moselle, great cycle paths await along the river. Here, the wine villages lie one after another, with vines stretching up the hillsides. Perfect surroundings for a bike ride, with good opportunities for a coffee break or a short stop along the way.

At Konz, the Saar and Moselle rivers meet, before you cycle on to Trier, one of Germany's oldest cities. Here, historic buildings, pleasant squares, and a nice end to today's stage await.

Day 3Trier - Zeltingen

Today the cycling trip continues along the Moselle, through a landscape characterized by vineyards, green hillsides, and small villages with long wine traditions. Here, the cycle paths follow the river's bends, with ever-new views and pleasant places to stop along the way.

At Trittenheim, you cross the Moselle and get a great view over the valley, with vines covering the steep hillsides. A perfect place to take a short break and enjoy the surroundings!

Further on, you pass Neumagen-Dhron, which is considered Germany's oldest wine village. From here, the journey continues through the characteristic vineyard landscape of the Moselle Valley before you arrive in Zeltingen, where you will spend the night.

Day 4Zeltingen - Cochem

Today, one of the Moselle Valley's most spectacular stretches awaits! From Zeltingen, you follow the river further through the vineyard landscape toward the famous Moselle loop at Zell, known as Zeller Hamm. Here, the river meanders in a large loop between steep, vine-clad hillsides.

High above the river lies the approximately 900-year-old Marienburg, surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see. Perhaps a short break and a taste of the local wines on the way is tempting?

Further towards Cochem, you pass Calmont, known for having Europe's steepest vineyards. An impressive sight!

Today's stage ends in charming Cochem, where the fairytale-like Reichsburg Castle towers over the town. With its narrow streets, half-timbered houses

Day 5Cochem - Koblenz

Last day on the bike! Today you follow the Moselle further towards Koblenz, with several exciting stops along the way.

At the small village of Moselkern, you can take a detour to the impressive Eltz Castle, which lies surrounded by forest and green hills. With its towers, spires, and medieval architecture, it almost looks like something out of a fairytale!

Further on, you pass Kobern-Gondorf, where the historic market square with its beautiful buildings is well worth a stop. Then the journey continues via the wine village of Winningen before you arrive in Koblenz.

Here, the Moselle and Rhine rivers meet at the famous Deutsches Eck. A great conclusion to the bike tour is to take the cable car across the Rhine to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, where you get a panoramic view of the city and the two rivers. The cable car ticket is included in the tour.

Day 6Departure Day Koblenz

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Koblenz and the Moselle Valley. Six days of great cycling experiences, historic small towns, and beautiful vineyard landscapes are over for this time.

You arrange transport from Koblenz to the airport yourself by public transport.
