Treat yourself to a few active days in a wonderful landscape – it is guaranteed to result in some fun experiences.

‘The trip starts at Finse station, 1222 meters above sea level. For 3 days you will hike in Aurlandsdalen, down to the Nærøyfjord. There, we will go kayaking / taking a mini-cruise.
The Flåm Railway takes you back up to the mountains. A fantastic trip in spectacular surroundings!’

Hiking down beautiful Aurlandsdalen

The trip starts all the way up at Finse station, 1222 meters above sea level. You arrive here by train (not incl. in the price).
For 3 days you will hike down through Aurlandsdalen. A hike through truly beautiful nature, with many ‘kodak moments’ along the way. The hike starts in relatively hilly terrain, before going mostly downhill. There will be great days in a magical mountain landscape.
Despite the fact that it is mostly downhill, the hike is relatively demanding, with 6-8 hours of hiking every day. The hike itself ends at Flåm / Nærøyfjord.

Kayak trip or mini-cruise on the Nærøyfjord

After several days on foot, the trip ends with a kayak trip on the Nærøyfjord. A fantastic experience to be able to glide along in a stable and safe kayak in these majestic surroundings. You will receive a thorough instruction and safety briefing from the professional, local guides before paddling out from the beach in Flåm. All equipment is provided on site.

If you wish to take it a bit easier on this last day, you can choose instead to go on a mini-cruise on the Nærøyfjord. The mini-cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen takes approx. 2 hours – during which you are constantly surrounded by the mighty mountains. After the cruise, there will be a short bus transfer back to Flåm.

Accommodation along the way

There will be accommodation at pleasant places along the way, a good mix of both simple mountain cabins and slightly more upgraded accommodation.

Our tour leader is, of course, well acquainted with the area and will show you some of the absolute most beautiful sights this part of Norway has to offer. In short, it will be a combination of hiking, paddling / cruising on the fjord, and a spectacular train journey – all in our own beautiful country.

Quick facts about the trip

This is a trip for those who love to hike. For those who are not necessarily in peak physical condition but still like to challenge themselves. If you are in average shape, we are confident you will have some really wonderful experiences.
The terrain is undulating, with a lot of downhill. Walking downhill can be demanding over time. We expect approx. 6-8 hours of hiking per day.

You will spend the first two nights in mountain cabins where you should expect to share a room with others, but with good access to showers and toilets. The last two nights you will stay in pleasant hotels, in double rooms with private bathrooms.

You book the train tickets yourself

You book the train tickets yourself, both round trip to Finse and for the Flåm Railway.
On the day of arrival, we meet at Finse station, 1222 meters above sea level, ready for departure at 13:00. By then, you should have eaten a good lunch and have a light packed lunch / snacks and drinks with you.
On the day of departure, you choose yourself when you wish to travel. Check-out from the hotel in Flåm is at 11:00. It may be wise to book a train ticket all the way to your final destination, e.g., Oslo or Bergen.

Backpack

You will walk with a backpack every day. In other words, it is important to think carefully about what you pack so that your backpack is as light as possible. You can find a suggested packing list further down the page. Remember that you also need to have room for a packed lunch & drinks.
