Mountain hikes in Val Gardena, the Dolomites 2027

Spectacular hikes around Sassolungo and across Seiser Alm

Adventures in the Dolomites, around Sassolungo & across Seiser Alm

Seiser Alm and the Dolomites attract visitors from all over the world. Here we find wonderfully beautiful mountains, spectacular views and cozy mountain huts located in places 'where no one would believe anyone could live'.
On this trip, we combine spectacular hikes in the unique Dolomites with delicious local food & drinks

For our accommodation this time, we have chosen the cozy family-run Hotel Piccolo. A charming place with good standards, personal service and, last but not least, fantastic food.

Our tour leader Anne Grethe T. Vestrheim, who incidentally LOVES the Dolomites, will take you on new hikes every day. The day trips take place at altitude, between approx. 1500 – 3000 meters above sea level. This means it goes without saying that both the views and the experiences will be truly special!

Quick facts about the trip

The hikes last for 4-6 hours and take place in hilly terrain at altitudes between 1500 – 3000 meters above sea level. We expect to spend most of the day outdoors on the trail. We will probably feel the altitude a bit regardless of our energy level on the day, but we will quickly adapt. Most days we will start by taking the cable car up the first approx. 1000 meters of elevation. We do the same in the afternoons when we go back down.

On one of the days, you can choose if you want to join an exciting and unforgettable Via Ferrata. We start at the Sella Pass where the Via Ferrata Sassolungo Forcella begins. Simply a magical experience. If many of us want to climb, we will split into two groups; one slightly easier for beginners and one slightly tougher for those who may have climbed before.
You sign up for the excursion when registering for the trip. There will be an additional cost of NOK 2050,-.

There will be some free time every day in the afternoons/evenings. This can be used for things like sightseeing in the town. Or simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings around the hotel in the town of Selva di Val Gardena / Wolkenstein

We eat dinner in the hotel restaurant, and lunches will be packed lunches or taken at a rifugio/mountain hut.

Local bus

The local bus takes us to the different starting points for the hikes – the best option. The local buses are free as long as we stay at a hotel in Val Gardena. All participants will receive a 'Gardenacard' from the hotel, and by presenting this you can use the bus for free during your entire stay. This card also applies if you want to take the bus to Bolzano or Passo Pordoi on the "free day".

Traveling alone?

Traveling alone does not mean you have to be alone. On our trips you will meet like-minded people who share the joy of active travel. The atmosphere is casual and inclusive, and it is easy to bond with new travel companions. Our trips are just as suitable for those going solo as for those traveling with others. So sign up – you will be part of the crowd from the very first moment!

Lift to Col Raiser at 2107 m above sea level (not incl.). The hike from there to Steviahütte is steep, magical, and tough, but so worth it!
We take it easy up the snaking turns on a gravel-paved trail to the summit. In the last part of the steep pass, we walk on paths with clear remains from World War I.
We take a well-deserved rest and catch our breath at the top, Forcella dla Piza (2489 m above sea level). The view from here is formidable! It is called “The Window to the Valley”.

We walk for about 20 minutes from there, down a gentle slope all the way to Steviahütte. The hut is relatively small and scenically situated. View down towards Langental. No lifts here.
Lunch stop (not incl.) and enjoyment time at the hut before we have a fair amount of descent ahead of us. Steep, but not dangerous.
