Lido Di Jesolo - 'The South' in Italy

Holiday tips for sun-hungry Norwegians & Swedes

Do you want a "southern resort" that is easily accessible from Norway? Only 45 minutes from Marco Polo Airport (near Venice) lies the seaside resort Lido di Jesolo! This is a town several of us in Team Expa have spent many summers in, both as singles, in couples, and as families with young children.

Lido di Jesolo, located along the Adriatic coast, has a 17-kilometer-long beach which is ideal also for the very youngest tourists; it is wide, shallow, and perfect for active play and building sandcastles at the water's edge.
Along the beach, there are many beach volleyball courts, kiosks, small restaurants, playgrounds, etc.
There is also an annual tradition with fantastic beach sculpture exhibitions on the beach every year.

The town is divided into two parts

Simply put, the town is divided into two; an eastern and a western part. In both districts, there are many opportunities for activities, as well as many shops and restaurants. The eastern part is probably a bit quieter and the beach is a bit wider there. In the western part, there is probably a larger selection of shops and restaurants, and the vast majority of hotels are located here. You can easily get from the eastern to the western part by public transport throughout the day.

Activities for all ages

In Lido di Jesolo, activities such as horse riding, pedal boating, go-karting, banana boating, diving, and wind- and kitesurfing are offered. Not to mention cycling trips; the terrain around Jesolo is flat, making it suitable for cycling for the whole family. It is easy to rent a bike, and they offer tandems, e-bikes, e-scooters, and family bikes (max 6 people). If you want to rent a Vespa or a car, this is also easy to get hold of – there are many rental companies in the side streets.

Shops and restaurants as far as the eye can see

Parallel to the beach runs the main street of Lido di Jesolo, a street that is divided by several squares.
In the summer, this street is closed to traffic between 20:00 – 06:00, and then becomes a pedestrian street with lots of life and bustle for the whole family. Often there are concerts or shows in the squares during peak season.
Several mini-trains run around the town, status easy to take you from square to square.

Many great shops provide shopping opportunities for big and small. There are both typical tourist / beach items shops, but also great shops with the latest fashion. We are talking clothing stores, shoe shops, hairdressers, bag shops, etc. Here everything is offered from cheap clothing and shoe brands to more expensive brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Prada. The designer outlet in Noventa di Piave can also be recommended; it is located about a 30-minute drive outside Lido di Jesolo.

Then of course there is the food. Naturally, you don't need to walk many meters before you find restaurants with delicious Italian dishes! Experience shows that you quickly find 2-3 favorite restaurants.

And don't forget the ice cream – Italy is widely known for its incredibly good 'gelato' – with flavors of ALL kinds. Most ice cream parlors produce their own ice cream and you quickly get your own favorites that you buy evening after evening after evening…

How to travel to Lido di Jesolo

Flying from Oslo to Venice takes about 2.5 hours. The bus from Marco Polo Airport departs right outside the arrival hall – and takes you to the center of Lido di Jesolo in 30-40 minutes. Very simple!

You can also drive by car from Norway to Lido di Jesolo, a super trip where you can experience a lot along the way. Most hotels in Lido di Jesolo have plenty of parking spaces for their guests.

Where to stay

Lido di Jesolo is a holiday and seaside resort, the high season is from may to september.
Within the season, there is an almost unlimited number of hotels / apartments available, most located along the beach or in the parallel street.
Another alternative is to stay at one of the many campsites in Lido di Jesolo, these are more exclusive campsites with all facilities, where one of them – Jesolo International Club Camping – has been named Europe's best campsite 3 years in a row.

What to do in Lido di Jesolo

Culture – Venice / Verona / Padua or Vicenza
Lido di Jesolo is primarily a seaside resort, but also offers so much more. A day trip to Venice is of course a must. Venice is located 45 km from Lido di Jesolo. It is easiest to take the bus to Punta Sabbione or Treporti, and take the boat further from there.

There is also the opportunity to take longer excursions to cultural cities such as Padua, Vicenza, or Verona.

Parks
The water park Aqualandia is considered one of Italy's finest water parks, and is located in the middle of Lido di Jesolo. In the same area you will also find an amusement park and a go-kart track.
Should you rather want to see underwater life / reptiles, the great aquarium / reptile park Tropicarium is located on the outskirts of Lido di Jesolo. Fun for both big and small!
And for those who are interested in golf, there are of course also golf courses here, both mini-golf and 18-hole courses.

Nightlife
Rumor also has it that the nightlife is great in Lido di Jesolo, however, none of us in Team Expa have tested this significantly. But, rumors say that one should go to Coco Loco bar and try the Fresa de Capricosa there…

This restaurant is popular among Italians too, so it might be wise to book a table in advance.
